After the GW is sitting for a couple days, I can crank it till the cows come home, pumping the pedal like crazy, and it won't start. If I spray some starting fluid down the mouth of the carb, it starts right up and runs fine.
Someone told me it might be the electronic choke? Does this sound right, and if it is, is it a straight R&R of some part that I imagine is bolted onto the carb? Thanks, fellow Jeepers!

I don't think the choke has anything to do with you not being able to start it. Sounds like there is a problem with keeping fuel in the fuel bowl. Maybe the float is stuck or set way to low.

agreed. if it was a choke thing you should be able to hold it floored and start it. sounds like your fuel is drainging out of the carb.

I have the same deal with my 258 1brl , I always carry a can of ether. So the gas is draining out of the carb? PO said he put a reman carb on mine. I have never seen a fuel leakage in 27k of driving it. Where can the gas that is supposed to be in the float bowl be going? Also I have the stock style fuel filter with the return line. Somebody on here said to plug that or run single outlet filter instead. Any particular reason that should be done aside from a possible cure of vapor lock?

What about the fuel filter being level? I had some starting problems when I didn't know that the fuel filter should be level and had installed it in some bent/angled messed up fuel lines. After I corrected the lines so inlet and outlet were level/horizontal, fuel stayed in the filter and starting was easy.
