Hi all,
I'm new to this board as well as my J20.
I recently did a search on the VIN code
and this is what it came up with:

Year:1980
Jeep Corporation
Toledo/Hydromatic/LHD/Part Time
Truck/J-20/131 in. Wheelbase
8000 GVW
V8-360 2V/175 HP
Sequential Serial Number : 062200

For the most part this is fairly straight forward,
360 /NP208 D44 front-D60 ff rear 3.73ratio.
But Hydromatic? does this indicate a TH400?
I thought all FSJ trucks of that era came with the
TF727?

Also, what is the Sequential Serial # stand for?

any help you guys can provide would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
Mike

On first blush, I'd say the Sequential Serial Number is just that: your truck's serial number in order from the factory. As far as the tranny goes, as far as I know the transition year for TH400 to TF727 was 1979...could yours be an oddball? Sure...after all, we're talking about Jeep here! The only way to tell is to look at your tranny. IIRC, my '78 Chero had "Hydramatic 400" stamped on the pan...I'm not sure, so don't hold me to that.
