Turns out there was some interfence between the back edge of the valley where it bends down.When the weight of manifold was added the lip touched the casting causing the gasket to move foward just enough to cause problems.As soon as the gasket was fixed everything worked like it was supose to.
Lessons learned...those head mounted lights are a cheap but great investment allowing you to put light where you need it while keeping your hands free.If your problem solving when tired its easy to miss the easy things and focus on the wrong things.
