i've got a 1980 cherokee chief with a 219 AM transfer case and a TH400 tranny. do i have a narrow trac or wide trac or what? what does this mean? thanks for any help

Do you have wide fender flares? If so, then it's a Wide Track.

no mine is only a 2 door and it has the very large fender flares. but what does wide trac and narrow trac mean? just code names?

Your axels are approx. 6" wider (3" per side) than a NT Wagoneer or NT Cherokee. Alot of NT owners upgrade to WT axels when they go with a lift.

thanks for the help guys....one more question...is their an advantage to the wide trac over the narrow?

WT axels will help a lifted vehicle have a more stable stance....less likely to tip. Wider IS better. :D :D

Another thing you do not have a TH400 trans it is a TF727
