i replaced everything except metal brake lines and brake boosterand master
my fronts are fine everything is new but my backs are in need of help, i am onmy second set of drums(sent the originals back defects) but i keep having this one problem they make a howling sound when i slowly slow down.. what do you think it is? i filed my shoes because they had marks from my old drum (looked like it was skipping) if i cant fix it i will do a disk brake setup(the ebay guy) when i get my new rear(which is still unfound)..

(i deleted this before because i spelt the entire heading wrong smile.gif)

Howl like a high frequency vibration? My right rear started "screeching" during light braking and found the wheel cylinder loose. Tightened it up and it stopped. Hope it's that simple....

You filed the shoes down? Sounds like you should have just changed them out. That could very well be your problem. but if you're looking for a reasonn to get the disc brakes then just say you have a defective rear brake assembly and get it. ;)

Just a guess John but I think your prob may be the old shoes in the new drums.
You might see about getting the shoes re-arched to match the drums. This used to be a pretty common practice after having a set of drums turned. Any auto shop should be able to do it. Parts houses used to do it if they did the drum turning but I haven't seen one of those machines in a parts house in years.
