The lights that light up the area around the tailgate switch/headlight switch/rear defrost switch on the dash of my 87 arn't working. I see that you need to pull the instrument cluster out to get to it. Does anything else need to come out so I can replace the bulb(s) there??

TIA

No I think that's all. You might be able to get to that bulb without removing the speedo cable, but its not that dificult.

The bulbs for the instrument cluster on located on top of the instrument cluster it self. Take a putty knife of simular insturment and remove the bezel from the dash, on the instrument cluster there are four screws 2 at the top and 2 on the bottum, remove them. Like said previously you may be able to remove the bulb holders with out removing speedometer cable, by turning them. Now is a good time to check the electrical contacts on the insturment panel for corrosion and bad contact,be sure that you check the metal contacts on the new bulbs to ensure that they are aligned correctly to match the contacts in the holder. Install them and put every thing back to gether and you should be back in business. http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/wink.gif
