View Full Version : Anyone reason to NOT run a 1410 or 1450 ujoint?

I'm ordering an nv4500 and atlas 3.8 tomorrow from Advance Adapters. :D:D
When ordering the atlas, I get the option of running 1310/1350/1410/1450 yokes.
This is going into my '78 J10 with a front chevy d60 and rear 14bolt.
The front will need to be a CV yoke.
I will have to get new driveshafts made front and rear anyway.
So is there any reason to NOT run the larger ujoints?

You will probably want the C/V to be a 1350, unless you already own a 1410 C/V because 1410's are EXPENSIVE!
I run 1410 u-joints everywhere I can because they are slightly stronger than a 1350, but have substantially more allowable deflection, 28 degrees vs. 20 degrees from a 1350. I was in the same situation with buying all new yokes for t-case and axles, so I figured go big or don't go!
So, I vote 1350 flange front, 1410 yoke rear. That is the exact opposite of what I run ...
Edit: Plus it is a small investment now vs. changing them all later.

I wouldn't go smaller than a 1350.
I run 1350s and 1410s and haven't had an issue yet.
1410's in the rear here, 1350 flange mounted cv up front with a 1310 at the yoke. No issues yet with the 1310 (yet) but will switch to a 1410 at the front yoke when the D60 goes in up front, if not for the beef, simply to minimize the number/types of spare joints I carry.
It was a pretty chunk of cash for the long travel 1410 rear but I figure it was worth it since the shafts had to be built from scratch anyway.
1330s here. I wear out the front ones cause I drive with one hub in A LOT. Never broke one though....
Seen Cromo 35 spline Dana 60 axles break before 1310 drive line joints...
Its your money but I would put it somewhere else.

running a 1350 cv rear with a 1410 up front. if i was doing it again id run a cv up front with either the 1350 or 1410 joint, depending on the wallet

I was searching for some info and came across my own thread!
update:
I ended up with 1410 non-cv ujoints on both ends of the rear drive shaft and a 1350CV on the atlas and a 1310 ujoint on the front D60. This combo has performed flawlessly for the past year + since installed.
