Just wondering if anyone has either of these behind there FSJ. The M416 Trailer looks to me to be better suited for a Wrangler, But the M101 Trailer looks to be larger and wider thus seeming to be better for a FSJ. Here are two pictures of both for Reference.

The 416 has an empty weight of about 500# and a GVW of about 1000.

The 101 I believe has an empty weight of about 1300# and a GVW of 3500#. So it may do well behind an FSJ. When I was hunting for my 416 I found quite a few 101's in useable shape for cheap...around $200-400. The 416's have become higher priced due to more demand I think...I paid $690 for mine.

I think the M101 would be a better fit. Plus they are cheaper since they don't fit just right behind baby Jeeps.

Here is mine with some 1100R16 Michelin tires (about 39")

Depends on what you want to use your trailer for, depends on which one works best.

My issue with the M-416 is the trailer deck height.
It is as tall if not taller than a a standard pickup truck bed.
This makes it a challenge to load and unload.

For a hardcore off road trailer with a maximum payload, the M-416 is hard to beat.

...

Exactly. If you want a utility trailer, the M101 has a bigger payload and handier size. I expect it would handle a scoop of gravel just fine... garden supplies, lumber, bricks, trash or scrap, whatever. You could eliminate needing a pickup if you owned a M101.

The M416 and other Bantam-sized trailers are more suitable for camping, IMO. I prefer to travel light enough that I don't need a trailer, but to each his own.

My 416 weighs in at 700lbs dry and rolls along perfect behind the FSJ. Converted the military lights to 12V.

If you're looking for the M101 try to find the M101A1 with the surge brake setup. The standard version just has a parking brake IIRC. The 416 had a surge brake on the later M416A1 and A2 models but that is rare to find.

I would like to use a use a M101 series or later becuase i want to keep FSJ with a larger matching trailer. I like what people do with the M416 but I want to do the same with the larger M101
This is nice. But i want bigger to match a big Jeep.
