I was suposed to pick up my engine the other day, and they where having problems with the summit push rods. For whatever reason, they are way to long. I guess a combo of the heads being shaved acouple of times, and then the valves ground, and the different lift on the cam. Anyway, they measured 7.794 and what is needed is a 7.550 pushrod. So Im either gonna have to go with a 7.50, or get some 7.550 made up at great cost. Unless some one knows where to find a set of 7.550. Summit has the 7.50. One way or the other, I gonna get this sucker in there by Tuesday. Dennis

I sure hope you haven't shaved the heads .244. After .015 the steel Felpro intake gasket is useless as the heads are actually seated farther apart and the intake need to be milled to get it to seat properly to the new angle of the intake side. I think something else is wrong. You don't just come up 1/4" off on soemthing in an engine. Either Summit sent you the wrong pushrods to start off with or the machine shop measured wrong. To get a custom pushrod length either get the matching pushrods made by your cam maker or look at other engines besides AMC. AMC'S are a 3/8 pushrod, so are Chevy, Pontiac and Big Fords. Small block Dodge is a 7.550 but it's 5/16" not sure on your cam specs but probably too small although big block dodges ran the same 5/16 pushrod and massive hp mtors. They also sell kits that allow you to make custom length pushrods. Just a pushrod about 10" in length with one end installed. You cut and install the other end yourself.
