The AMC 360 being jeeps most common V8 is a great engien with a bore and stroke right on the money. these cousins to the larger 401 and 390 are not to be underestimated and when properly setup can dwarf the smallest hp rating for the 360 which was 175 .....LOL
A AMC V8 already has good breathing heads and a great bore and stroke, The Initial best upgrade is to open up the exhaust and the aspiriation whether it is carb and intake or fuel injection. These motors stock are just waiting for the right aspiration and when they are opened up to breath they really have an increase in tq and hp.
As much as i like the 401, the 360 can be built to the hilt and made a very formidable opponent for the 401 and for many big blocks. This psring we are doing a 360 buildup and from mild to wild and dynoing the engines at stock and modified. I look forward to these numbers and sharing them with the FSJ crowd

I'll be looking forward to the results.
Thanks for the effort.
Also looking forward to what Indy Cylinder Heads has brought to the table with their new aluminum AMC blocks.

no good at the math thing - what would a .095 over 360 be?( re: engine block cut in half )
and what would it be offset grinding 360 crank for an extra bit of stroke?
*evil laughs*

alright I found an online calculator for mathmatically challenged LOL
360 stock -
Bore - 4.08
Stroke - 3.44
360 bored to jeepsr4ever's block cut in half post -
Bore - 4.175
Stroke - 3.44
CID - 377
Bored and stroked ( offset grind of 0.10 )
Bore - 4.175
Stroke - 3.54
CID - 388
Bored and stroked ( offset grind of 0.20 )
Bore - 4.175
Stroke - 3.64
CID - 399

Nope no good at all. Here are some more Numbers and they do not compute at all. LOL
4.165" X 3.68"
4.30 " X 4.304"
Differance of
0.135" X .624"
Smaller is better and bigger is worse???????
4.165" X 3.68"
4.08" X 3.44"
Differance of
0.085" X .24"
But a differance of neck breaking performance???????

I do understand the lighter weight helps the Go-Fast AMC owners,
but am need of education about benefits of other AL block applications.

Aluminum would help disappate heat better so you could run higher compression. Honestly for the price it wouldn't be that benefitial to most of us.

Heads alone would be out of price range for most. Sure would suck to toss a rod through that block.

Anyone here see all the parts Edelbrock makes for the AMC 360. They've got a line of parts all dyno tuned to each other for that engine. My next upgrades will prob be the Edl camshaft and crome headers if I can EVER afford them. Any comments?

EDL performer Camshaft I was not impressed with at all. I feel the Summit #8600 did a better job. Performer intake and 1406 Carb along with the Summit Cam was a nice upgrade. Though Cam choice will depend on what you want your engine to do.

I'm makin it into the perfect hunting rig. Able to be a daily driver (though not because of it only getting 6-8 miles to the gallon) then lock into 4wd and mudd and crawl to my hearts content.

crazy
the summit 8600 has lots more duration than the EDL 2132. (214/224compare194/214 repectively). shoodnt vacum be lower with the summit and therefore idle quality?

Do you have a cost of the Edelbrock shorty headers? I want a set of the shorty blacks unless the chromes aren't that much more. I need a new exhaust system but I'm waiting for those to hit the shelf before I do the new system.
