On the way from doing some last-minute shopping, my 83 GW started bogging down on me, and I immediatley knew that it was my cat converter, I had the same thing happen 6 months before and had a new one installed. I pulled into a parking lot, hack-sawed it off, and she started right up.(boy does she sound mean!) It's only 6 months old, what caused it to go bad so quick? Any help would be appreciated.
I had the sam thing happen after about a year. I don't know the actual cause, but some of the factors are a missing cylinder and I think I was running too rich.
i hope this helps

Probably, the cause is running too rich. Otherwise the cat converter should last 30-50k miles.

Running rich leaves too much un-burned fuel going into the cat and it overheats the convertor when it combusts there.

Thanks alot, guys. I'll tinker with the carb tommorow if it's warm enough! I don't think it's the coil, just did the TFI upgrade and bought the msd TFI blaster, the only problem I had was wiring it, how would I know if it was wired backwards, it did'nt seem to make a difference either way.
