still 48 hours before we strip down the Cherokee Chief... I'm not sure on the color yet though.. red, brown? RED :-)
i've got a buddy coming over for a week - we're gonna work on it every night. Friday it needs to be completely disassembled as we have to send it to the sandblaster... Exciting, exciting...
Setup is gonna be more or less the same as on the j10: 401/auto/quadratrac.
Pictures will be posted accordingly on this page...

the nos quadra is still in the j10 in colorado springs, so i doubt it :-(
it's pretty ok in the chief now so... we'll see.
i love the red - just like dennis!!! and i still have the memories on my father old truck before he sold it... would be nice to make the same one...

ive seen a metallic brown on a newer jeep that would look pretty slick..or stock color..

list is long - paint is close to rust - interior is striped - engine leaks oil, vaccum, fluids, ... and basically it's not restored. needs to be perfect... in the museum... :-)

this is not the point and i'm sad to read your interpretation this way!
it's not about biggest, shiniest, toughest or most expensive...
it's all about putting the time and effort it takes to restore an american icon back to what it was... getting it on the road in a better than new conditions.
in the "cash for clunkers" days, it's complete nonsense to undertake this. especially in europe - nobody wants these trucks over here anymore.
just for your info - every cent i make off my normal regular job goes into these trucks. each vehicle is about 1000 hours work. no wife, no kids. you should not be jealous - it's a choice of life! if it disturbs you, i can also stop posting pictures. but i do believe that some people enjoy watching them for the pleasure, not for the jealousy!

I enjoy your pics for the pleasure. And I have to admit a little for the lealousy as well.
But If it weren't for people like you out there restoring these crown jewels then there would be no inspiration for the rest of us.
And we have no life and nothing better to do.

I was just teasing. I know that you are a perfectionist and I for one appreciate it. It won't be long here in California before they invent a mobile car crusher and go door to door crushing cars at will. Keep up the great work saving American icons over there, cause it won't be long that they will keep us from doing it here.

Well said. This is all about the love of a vehicle.
Jeeps are not just "cars" to me . . . It's a lifestyle. :fsj:
I am watching your progress on this one - I love to see the progress pictures !
Have fun Dan !! Wish I could have met you while you were in the states...

I can't tell by the picture but it looks to me like it has the same color as mine - sable brown metallic. To me that's one of the most beautiful color schemes. I chose mine for that color. IMHO - keep it in that color...
