Dirt in my tranny

This is probably a bonehead question.

I got my sm420 that will be going into my J10.

The problem is that it got dropped in the dirt (p.s. don't get a 100# woman to help carry a 150# transmission) and some dirt got in the case through the opening for the shifter.

I was thinking about rebuilding it anyway (seals, bearings and synchros), and I guess I have to now.

what do I use to flush the dirt etc. out of the case?

Can't you just use brake parts cleaner or something?

How much dirt are we talking here?

Less than an ounce, but it is on and around some of the gears and synchros.
