84? or 83?

I bought an 84 limited wagoneer...well at least I thought it was an 84. 84 was when the grand wags started right? The rig has wrap around tail lights, a vinyl top, sun roof, and the color is light beige (looks to be original paint) but the fella is sure that it is an 84 limited. It's mine no matter, but I would like to know if it is an 83 before I go pick it up on Friday.

Doesn't it say on the title. Check the vin plate (someone can tell you where it's at) Mine was on the firewall it's a 78, I don't know when they moved um to the dash. The 10th digit (if it's a 17 digit number) will tell the titled model year. If not just write it down and there is a vin decoder located in the tech library of this forum.

Yeah...I will check the title...he did not have the title with him when I went to look at it. I appreciate the howdy!:)

and it never hurts to double check to make sure the vin on the truck and the vin on the title match... not that anyone would ever get vehicles mixed up.

84 had none wrap around rear lights.

Thanks for the tips already had the (junk yard title) problem with my 88. New to jeeps...that was what I was looking for...did not think the 84's had wrap arounds. Thanks, guys

There is always the chance that it was one of the first of the '84 production year and one of the last of the '83 production year.

As stated, taillights give it away. 83 was the last year for the wraparounds. (AFAIK.)

Well then that tells me that it is not the original paint cause that color (beige) was not offered in 83
