Stuck relief valve???

I assume that if one's presure relief valve is stuck closed, closing off the filter, then the rig would fill up with less oil then otherwise. For example, oil change and filter takes about 5 qts. Stuck relief valve, and 4 fills her up. What do you think?????

Well, I think I answered my own question by refering to my book. Still don't know why it only will take 4 qts, however. Maybe the oil pan is filled up with junk..

Maybe wrong dipstick? I would put the filter and 5 QT's. Marc

Try filling the oil fitler with oil before putting it on and then putting 4 quarts in. If the valve is stuck then it may only read 4 quarts. If it isn't stuck then the it may read higher than where it did with 4 quarts. Maybe, just a guess.
