Ocassionally my throttle cable will stick.... it's a thrill in traffic! The cable is new, sold as a replacement for my truck. Of corse it needed fitting. I'm also wondering if the problem is in the carb linkage? I have a Webber 2bbl with mechanical linkage, and the cable hooks onto that. There is a return spring also. Any ideas, especially if it's the carb??? Thanx

Sometimes mine sticks too... but that is because it is caught under floor mat.
Suggest to reproduce the sticking while vehicle is stationary then you can find where/why is sticking and fix.

Did you spray some lithium grease on the cable before you installed it? I bought a new one and it was barely greased if greased at all. Did you route it the same as the old one? If it has to many kinks then it can cause it to stick. Spray down the outside of the carb with some cleaner and check the throttle plate. These are a few ideas.

my brand new throttle cable from NAPA sticks much worse than the old cable it was supposed to replace. so I keep the old cable handy smile.gif

I've found that a real tight spring helps too. That's also a personal preference for me.
