Help again...my carb getting red hot has been linked to running rich..suggestions in tha post say to check the float...and to check the choke....what do these look like and where will I find them? I have read and re-read the Michael Baxter write up but I'm still having trouble. Anyone out there that can help tonight?

I assume you have the Motorcraft 2150 carb? If so you have to take the top off of the carb to access the float.
As far as the choke, with the engine warm, the choke should be open, the choke being the butterfly valve at the top of the carb inlet. You should be able to see it just by taking the lid off of the air filter housing.

You might have a leaky power valve...I'd say that's your most likely suspect. It's located on the bottom of the float bowl (on the 2150's) and it has a square cover with 4 screws over it. Some of them are flat and some are domed with a vacuum line attached. If you remove the vac line and you get gas or you take that cover off and get gas then your PV is leaking.
