I know that $90 really isn't that much money, but I am one of those guys who will spend days trying to find a cheaper way to do anything. (I squeak when I walk).

Is there anyplace I can buy the sound dampening stuff that lines the underside of the hood, or am I stuck spending money for a replacement set. I saw a set on the internet for (I think) $90, but to me that seems like a LOT of money for what must be $2 worth of insulation.

Is there a better source?

Thanks.

try jc whitney, or use a hot water heater blanket cut to fit.

I run without it. But down here in the heat, it helps keep the engine and engine bay cooler.
In CO, I would use something. And seeing our hoods, almost anything square you can cut to fit. Water heater blankets, garage door insulation, etc.
Another really nice thing to do is to seal the metal/paint while the liner is out. If you prep the surface, then some cheap cans of rubberized under coating will work great. Then put in your liner of choice. You could also use a second coat of the undercoating as an adhesive as well to help keep the insulation stuck to the hood.

I got mine from a guy off Ebay a year or so ago. Cost me about $25 bucks. Came in three pieces just like the OEM. Good stuff and it was a bargain. Do a search on Ebay, this guy sold new underhood insulation for numerous other vehicles also. He should still be there.

Try a local sheet metal shop. They use the exact same stuff to line the inside of ductwork. They'll give it to you for a coupla bucks. Also, you are looking for a front axle shift motor for your GW. Try J & W Autowreckers at www.jwjeep.com. (http://www.jwjeep.com.) I got one from them for 53.00 delivered. After some of the prices I was quoted, that was quite the bargain. I am thinking of buying another just to broaden my investment portfolio!:)
