I took my wag outa the driveway 2day for a short little trip around the block and I nearly passed out by the time I got home. The previous owner had the 3/4" hose that runs across the front of the block disconnected for better gas mileage. I got a heater hose and connected the passenger side to the tee(much quieter) and tried to get the other side on the round thing, but the male end where you clip the hose on is broken off and the threaded side on the bottom is rusted w/the metal hose. Is there a way I can make a male connector so I can get the hose on? If i do this will that stop me me from being nearly choked to death.

is your back winow up? or down? the hose you are talking about is part of the AIR system and should not cause you to get the smell inside.

Sounds more like an exhaust leak, coupled with either a rich fuel mixture and/or leaky rear hatch. I had the same problems with mine. It was too rich and the tailgate was nowhere near air tight because all the window gaskets were taken off while I was doing the body work. GAG!! I adjusted the carb back down to normal and the "pass-out" levels of carbon monoxide have diminished smile.gif As was said earlier, was the back window up or down?

My window is up, there are some rust holes on the bottom of the tailgate, and I do need new weather stripings on the whole wag. There is a hole in the floorboard right next to the right rear passenger door(only a couple of inches in diameter), and a tremendous hole in my left rear qp, but it's on the opposite side of the exhaust pipe. Thanx for the help.

The broken hose you mentioned sounds like the crossover hose that goes down to the AIR tubes.
the hose goes to a one way valve. If that valve is bad,it's letting exhaust come up the air tubes and
into the engine compartment.
