There is a guy I meet wheeling and his truck has this set up. Can this be done for a Jeep?? Is it safe? Do other trucks have this kind of steering??

That looks like a chebby d-44 steering setup. Depends on how you get your steering box/pitman arm set up.
Yes i have seen that on Blazers, but even they change it to go to cross over steering ,,so i really dont see the advantage?

I'll second Slim on this one; they all swap to the setup that we've got, at great expense. For a reason; once you get any lift in these things, crossover steering has much-less bump-steer.

That is factory type steering on those rigs. Ford did it too, my dad had a 79 250 that steered like that. I also think crossover would be the best route to go.

there seems to be a leverage advantage when it is setup correctly. a friend of mine had chevy steernig on his CJ. before we changed the springs, moved the mounts, and thre the geometry out of whack,it worked great. he could turn his 36" buckshots lock to lock with 1 hand,no matter how deep the mud ws,nor how crossed up inthe rutts.
a couple other examples:a freind of mine had 38s on a burb that he drove daily. he could turn the wheel with one had standing still,on dry pavement. i had this beat up peace of crap camaro body on a blazer frame with a leaking power stering pump. as long as there was fluid in it,i could turn the 40x17" gumbos with one had,no prollem.
that setup definately works, dont knock it smile.gif
swappig it onto someting is a different story.if it comes from the factroy, thats one thing, but its really tough to get it set up just right otherwise. after we screwed it up it bent leaf springs instead of turning the wheels.we put chains on the axle as a trail fix one time. we could never get it right after that, and eventually converted it to high steer, with a 2wd chevy box. high steer,or crossover is definately easier to set up.
