Gearing

Hey there,

LIke i said in a earlier message im new to the world of FSJ. Have been talking to ppl about lockers for the the AMC 20 rear axle.....I guess my question now is....like I said before I plan on building up my j10 for a combo of trail and daily driver...The J10 im picking up has the stock dana 44/AMC20 axles...I keep reading all these posts about different gear ratios and such...so my question comes down to what would be the best gear ratio for that combo? Can I leave the ratio stock besides the locker? What locker would be best? Keep hearing Ox and ARB

You have either 2.73 or 3.31 gears right now. Neither is a great gear ratio. 3.31's are livable with 31" tires. If you plan on 33's, I say go to 4.10's when you can. And if you are putting a full carrier locker in (ARB, OX, Detroit) you should REALLY regear at the same time.
