Are all years of the 360 pretty much the same? Could you take a 79 360 and put it into a 88 wag? I just know the chevys I had when I was a kid changed a little over the years as far as certain holes in the heads and such for mounting brackets and acc. Thanks for educating the uneducated.
Yup pretty much the same. You'll need to remove the crankshft insert/pilot bushing from the 79 (this is "important")to work with an 80 up AT but that's about it. Minor things like exh manifold bolts (2 end bolts) are different between 79/80, smog equip is different but yeah generally a 79 is the same as an 88. If you have a complete 79 motor and a complete 88 you can mix-n-match whatever you need to make it work.
