I've been reading everywhere that the vacuum hoses should be replaced on our FSJs.. but what size vacuum hoses are required to replace all of them. After doing a lot of searching, I've found decent deals on 3mm, 6mm, 8mm, and 10mm hoses. Even found some kits for combos of all... Any help would be appreciated.

Thanx...

I don't know what size each componet takes but just clip off a inch or two of the ones you need and match them at the parts store. They sell the stuff on a roll by the foot. Comes in 1/8", 1/4" etc...never seen it in metric through. The small stuff is about $0.23/ft

I've been looking for different colored hoses at places like Jegs and Summit. Thats probably why they listed in metric, for the foriegn cars. I thought having a different colored vacuum hose, other than black, would help in trouble shooting later.

Here's a stupid question, is the size based on the outside width or inside opening of the hose?

Thanks again for helping a rookie!

Fred, it's inside diameter of the hose. I don't know where you'd go for colored hose other than the places you mentioned. Napa just carries black on the bulk rolls.

You could use remote control airplane fuel line for some smaller sizes of vac hose. They sell all sorts of colors. I used blue for the lines down at the QT. tongue.gif
