Setting up a Chevy HD44 for use in my Gladiator with post mount width pads. Since the HD44 is already SOA, I really should be better off/ok using the stock pinion angle right? Tcase is a D20 at stock height. Just curious if I should give a few degrees (1-3) or leave it be. I don't have the pads yet but will leave the stock ones on there till I weld up the new ones.

Also curious if that dinky ancient front driveshaft will be okay with pushing the 4.09 front with 34" tires on it. I am okay with the idea of a square tube shaft if need be, since any 4wd driving would be at creeper speeds.

yeah, i would think your pinion angle would be ok, if you're using stock springs. i've had a few buddies do the same thing and were were just fine. heck, you might even be ok with some lift on top of that. somebody else will correct me if i'm wrong...

You should always measure to make sure before you weld your new spring perches. This way if you need to make a compromise ie. pinion angle vs caster you can decide if it is better to make a new drive shaft to allow for a greater u joint angle or have the outer knuckles cut and turn. Think real hard as to your long term goals ie lift t-case or other drivetrain changes and how those changes will effect the geometry.

All it has for lift is 'rebuilt' front spring packs with thick CJ AAL stuck in there. So It's probably back to about stock or a maybe a little more front lift than stock. Definitely NOT anything like a Hellcreek 4 or 6" lift.
