Well, I've been driving the '88 Waggy (on extended loan from my dad) more lately now that I have it in better shape. Since I don't have a truck and the Wag would be better suited to the task than my Explorer, I used it to take some poles in the rear...14 of them to be exact:

I also had 300 lbs. of concrete mix in the back. Realizing I didn't have the requisite red flag to tie to the ends I made do with the maroon towel I keep in the back for the dog:

You could say I like to keep things color coordinated. The interior is also maroon (or burgundy, or cordoban, or whatever you want to call it):

We had to go into high gear to get some area fenced off for RiverRat's horse who foundered last week (he'll probably be OK). :banghead: We were meaning to get the fencing done this spring, but it has do be one now since he needs twice daily care by her/us and is 40 miles away fom our house (10-15 from work). We'll be making a corral of sorts and building a stall into the barn. Then we need to get her other horse here (she's 250 miles away at her parents'). This means it'll be a little longer until my Explorer project is done, but living things come first.

It's going to be a LOT of work, but we'll get it done, despite using nothing but a manual post hole digger, T-post pounder, and elbow grease :sawzall: . Hope the project will be complete within two weeks. It will be much easier to monitor them once we have them at the Reid Ranch.

Wish us and the horsies luck!

good luck, i know the difficulty i building a fence, i had to make one for my aunts 4 acre property for her horses last year, it was a PITA, especially when it got cold in rainy, not to mention the land was a complete dump when she got it, also good looking wagon, i like silver

For the load, that's not too bad of a Wag sag. Unless it's sitting on the frame.

I like the maroon towel. Hey, at least you put SOMETHING there. An "A" for effort, definitely.

Hope your critters heal up fast.

if you can find a co-worker, I suggest renting a post hole augur for a day, Money well spent. Digging post holes by hand is a slooow job.

I was expecting a few ghey comments! :D Thanks for the comments, though. It's a "50-footer."

Since we'll be building the fence in stages, having the manual digger is fine. The holes I've dug so far have taken about 20 minutes apiece. We'll see how much we get done this weekend if I don't spend the whole time at work (I'm on call :().

Well you should always keep a towel handy when you have that much wood. ;) ...for safety, that is.

WoW, I haven't seen Jeep wood like that since the last time Kenny brought his J20 to Ouray...

Indeed mighty fine wood in that GW. If it only took 20 minutes a post I would have rebuilt our fence line myself. You must have some soft dirt without rocks.

Congrats on getting the horse! Had not heard that news. Now we know this is clearly a FSJ topic, but let's see the pony. :D That's bad news on the foundering... Poor thing, hope it is doing OK. :)

I'm only going 2' deep so that's why it doesn't take as long. Our dirt has a lot of clay in it, though. Our well water is HARD, too. :D

She's had the horses for a long time, now it's just a matter of getting our place in shape and getting them there.
