Searching the archives, Ive concluded that with a 4" lift and some 15x8 rims, i can fit 35's with no rubbing? Still cant decide on backspacing? Maybe a 4" bs or is that too small? Thanks Dennis

I'm running 35x14.5x15 tires on 15x10 american racing rims with the rough country lift kit on my 82 J10. It's actually only about a 3.5" lift, maybe less. I'm also using desert steel 1" lift front shackles supposed to be for cj. I squeezed them in a vise and made them fit my truck. Kinda ghetto I'll be the first to admit. I plan to weld in a chunk of the original shackle so I can have an upper suspension bushing. It's metal on metal presently, which isn't that great.
I got all my lift junk through jc whitney. The parts were quite cheap, I thought. I don't think I paid over $400 for everything with shocks and a dropped pitman arm and shipping.
I also trimmed my fenders about 3/4" with a jigsaw and rolled the lip back with the wide style vise grips. After these mods, I have experienced no rubbing even at full suspension compression and steering lock.
The key to running 35s is careful sheetmatal trimming. If that scares you, you'll have to run a body lift, or rusty's 6" kit to fit 35" tires.
