Since my Wag spent most of it's life in Wyoming and Montana I was seriously dreading pulling out the carpet to install my bucket seats. What I found brought a sigh of relief instead.
But before I get ahead of m'self. These two areas are the only outer body rust I've found yet. Not really rust, are they.

Now, on to the expected nightmare that wasn't.

To say I was surprised with what I found would be an understatement. Nice and solid. I couldn't have poked a hole in those floors with a screwdriver. So armed with my weapons of choice,

I implemented my plan of attack. Unfortunately I only took before and after pics. I work the night shift and it was 5:00pm before I started the second coat of Coroless paint. This old mutt was tired, and "during" pics never entered my mind.:o

So here she is after with the rust converted and encapsulated.

Of course I also have pics of a Wag owners wet dream.

Makes me glad the first owner had a body shop. That guy undercoated and rust proofed this rig everywhere.

There is just one small fly in the ointment though.

And it's in one of the worst of places.:banghead: Oh well, so much for having a pristine rig.

Mines an '89, picked it up three years ago for $500 from a guy down the street. It's got engine problems (which would be obvious to anyone who followed my "What engines will fit" post) BUT after leaving the thing in the front yard through a lousey, wet snowy winter, I got under it the first time and THE ONLY rust I could find was surface rust on the MUFFLER!! My wife still thinks its a POS. Why can't you get this stuff through to a woman?

I just put new carpet in my j10 and when I pulled the old up I was staring at my driveway. After a lot of grinding, chicken wire and bondo we are good to go. Yours looks like you got it before it went south. Congratulations

Bwahahahaha. I just had to rub it in with pics of the cargo area.:D

I had the gas tank out of her back in July to do my T/C chain. Guess what. No frame rot.

I've always had a knack for finding good buys. Kinda like a cattleman steppin' in poop.

really nice, what year is it 77, I just cut up a 78 that had floors like that. some one had done a hack job on the rear quarters. it looks to have been in an accident mucho bondo. Also looks to have sat in the river back end submerge. acctually the frame and tank and so on are great. just body was beat up.well scrapping it paid for it. I kept all the good stuff.

Good luck with your project.
