Alright, I am really talking out ooud here but I am looking for CHEAP/inexpensive solutions.

My 81 Wag was vandalized a few years ago and now its taking a break in a barn in the country. It is less than pretty right now. The windshield and many body panels are damaged.

And.....

What I want to do is take this thing and make a it runabout rig for ice fishing or just tearing around....... The idea is chopped top and all body panels and replace them with a cage and some sheet metal.

I am looking for suggestions and how much *SKILLED* work I am looking at........

Sounds like a buggy build. Tubing,a bender and a welder are needed....and a few thousand dollars as these projects tend to snow ball.

If you want to do it real cheap, put a new windshield in it just drive it.

I don't think you need to remove the sheemetal at all, but it's hard to judge from the pics posted. If the doors open & close and new glass will fit in the frames, you're good to go for a fishing rig/brush buster. Heck, the only glass you need to replace is the windscreen.

But after a cold day fishing or hunting, it's nice to come back to a rig that'll block out the elements.

I'd check out the mechanicals before making an appointment with Dr. Sawzall & Nurse Bighammers

Yeah, the pics are the only ones I have. I failed to mention that there is quite a bit of rost also.

Its drove up to the barn a few years ago. It needs a little mechical work to make it reliable.

I am still thinking buggy. My inlaws live by the lake and it would be fun to have something to drive on the lake when it freezes up.......

Guy named micheal - cant remember his SN - nice red choptop grand - that's is what you need to look at.

Find one of the choptop threads. You will find what you need.

I always say "anyone can restore a Waggy,it takes a man to cut one up!"
Do what makes YOU happy not the masses.
