HELP-- alternator wont bolt on

i went to bolt my alternator on, and the hole in the head isnt drilled! is it possible to get the heads on the wrong sides?

I am not 100 percent sure but..Both heads are drilled for the Accy as far as I know. Problem I have run into is useing the head from one side to the other, is that the holes that are now on the front of engine were at the back on the oposite side. These holes were not used when on the opossite side, and have a tendancy to fill up with dirt and oil. I have told myself to be sure to put heads on the way they came off in the future..........But I forget 99.9% of the time. So there I sit with a Drill and Tap chaseing threads!!!!! ;)

i fixed it, but let me assure you, it was not dirt and oil. the hole just wasn't there. it appeared to be started, but never finish machined. i drilled and tapped it, no problem.

Hmmm must have been beer thirty at the AMC engine plant that day HUH. LOL well good deal you got it. :D

this motor came from a cj, is there any difference in accesory mounting?

I thought all heads were drilled the same, not sure though. ;)
