My 90 G.W. started having trouble awhile ago. When I was driving on flat ground it was fine but when I hit a hill it would not accellerate. With in 2 weeks the problem got progressively worse to the point that I had to pull onto the shoulder and nurse it up hills to get her home.My friend who knows more about cars than me rebuilt the carb(motorcraft 2bbl)but I still have the same problem. When I start accellerating it's fine until the pedal reaches half way then it bogs.It makes a sort of sucking sound like it's starving for air. Also, put in new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, advance, pcv.I'm beginning to feel like it might not be the carb but something affecting the carb ie..vacuum,electric,cat..what exactly happens when an ignition module goes bad? Cat. goes bad? Thanks,Mike

I would suspect a big vacuum leak in one of the hoses. I would also check to see it the choke is opening fully when it is warmed up. is your tail pipe really black, as if your running rich? could also be your timing isn't advancing under load. I would say that if the carb was rebuilt recently it's not that. my carb gives me problems all the time although I think mine has to do with the choke. good luck.

It sounds like the cat conv is plugging up. Try , if possible, unbolting it and see if power returns. When the ign mod goes out the truck stops running.

Had the same problem and rebuilt the carb and did the TFI conversion. Still had the problem.

Changed the catalytic converter and now she runs great.

Did have a blown power valve and weak coil. That combination ended up killing the catalytic converter.
