Last week I was having starter problems. My starter would grind like there was no tomorrow. I took it in to a starter shop and they said that the bushing in the starter went out because my flexplate was worn. I find that strange because the flex plate is less then 2 years old and the starter is one week old. The guy at the shop it could have something to do with the fact that I removed the stock lower starter bolt and just used a smaller bolt and a nut to hold the starter on. Does anybody have any idea why the flex plate would be so worn so quickly?

thanks

Its true that a smaller bolt will cause bad grinding when engaging the starter........but if its not done too long it shouldnt hurt the flyring that bad........now heres what happened to me.....I went through about 8 starters before I got one that had a good nosecone bushing in it...the cheap rebuilt ones dont get the bushing replaced on the rebuild I guess.....thats all for now.
