Ok I got the cherry running yesterday after the body changeout. When looking under the hood I noticed that the bottom radiator hose at the block was collapsing when I would rev the motor. What's up with that? The hose is only about a year old at most.

Theres usually a wire spring inside the hose to keep it from collapsing. Sounds like yours may have rusted away.

Sounds like reddog has the answer to this one. The internal spring is either rusted away or was never installed. :eek oops! I don't think they sell just the spring, so you will have to probably get a new one to fix it. With all the work you have been doing it would be awfully easy to overlook something like that. At least it is easy to fix ;)

You guys let me know the brand and part number when you find one with a spring in it. Many of the companies have stopped selling hoses with the springs. I've been reusing mine. I find it very frustrating that they are cheaping out on important fail-safe. I have found both Dayco & Gates doing this.

NG, good point!! I suspect that the wire may be imbedded in the hose itself to prevent it from rusting away. I've always had good luck with Gates products - if I was willing to pay for them :D
Thrasher - the hose obviously needs replacing - I suggest NOT using the same brand.
