I was told that if i swap in a front chevy axle with the springs already on top of it that I would need to do a cross-over steering setup...
What exactly does that mean, and what would i need to do it? Any help is appreciated...

Look at your steering. It goes over from the steering box to the passenger side and attaches to the knuckle over there. The Chevy goes from the steering box to the driver's side. That difference will have to be dealt with. Also, the drag link (from the box to the right side knuckle) will be at a severe angle. That will cause handling abnormalities. You may have to covert to a high-steer system. That intails putting the drag link above the knuckle and over the springs rather than below as it is now. The Chevy right side knuckle will not be setup for the cross-over steering so that knuckle will need to be replaced with one that is.

If it's '77 or newer, then you'd have to replace the knuckle.
