I have been calling around and can not find on, all I can get is a rebuild kit, can anyone tell me where to get a new Pump... I have some low presure at idle and want to cure it...
7-10 lbs at idle
50-60 on the highway

A whole new pump would require the timing gear housing and new gears and shaft. The rebuild kit you are talking about is just eth new gears and shaft. The last i checked, the housing is about $250.00 from Turners 4wd; others may know a cheaper price somewhere else.

Funny thing is... your somewhat in the "average normal" range! LOL! :D
Unless you need a new timing-cover also, all you'll need is the rebuild kit. A hi-pressure spring would be a nice upgrade to the rebuild kit.

A "scoured" timing cover can also cause low oil-pressure.
www.quadratec.com (http://www.quadratec.com) lowest I've seen... $205+ s&h
Try www.autodogs.com (http://www.autodogs.com) first... guy bought a new one for $135, but that was last yr. They have an 800-number(west coast) too.

Oil pressure is a strong topic here. The 7-10 is regarded as normal, and said to be not damaging. That is to say, with the 360, this low reading is OK. The 50-60 on the hwy. would be the envy of many here, myself included! I get about 48 (hot) hwy. and about 20 +/- idle.
Rebuilding is a breeze, however it can also backfire if not done corectly and if the parts are not good etc. etc.
I *think* that many here would agree. IIWDFI. (if it works don't fix it) Use a good Wix made filter, good oil, and keep it all clean and fresh.
I use a NAPA gold filter and Wal MArt 15-40 summer. I know, Wal Mart Oil....how good is that crap?? Well, not sure!! Anyone know who makes it? I thought it was Havoline....

Ernzo, what is a "wix made filter?" I use Fram filters (also from Wal-Mart  ) I always thought they had a good rep... anyone know if thats true?
I got an oil pump kit from Autozone for $15. Don't know if the '79 is the same as and '87 but the job took about 20 minutes. Only problem I ran into was the shaft on the driven gear was hard to get out. Got it pulled out by hand enough to put a piece of garden hose around the shaft and clamp a vise grip on it. Then used a pry bar against the vise grip and frame to ease it out. Make sure take the shaft out straight and pack the pump with petroleum jelly before sealing it back up. This primes the pump and prevents wondering why the new part doesn't work.
My pressure was running 10-12 at idle and about 35 highway, now I've got 30-35 at idle and 45-50 on the highway. Of course, that's measured by a factory gauge with probably a error factor of 15+.
Good luck

79, read this about oil filters. It is a very good article. Oil FIlter Study (http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/oil_filter_study/)
I buy my wix filters either at Oreiley's or NAPA. the better NAPA is made by wix.

I use a Wix filter and Pennzoil 10w40...
The gauge I am using is a aftermarkrt, so it should be better than the factory...
Maybe I should just go with a spring kit... can that be done without changing the gears and stuff... If I can avoid a complete replacement, or a rebuild that would be great, but I would like to see the idle presure up a bit...??

just to let you guys know i installed an aftermarket gauge on my 88 and left the factory one hooked up ,the factory one was only off maybe 2 psi to the low side of the mechanical one i thought that was pretty good and it doesn't run out of gas till the fuel gauge says e and the light has been on so i guess i'm the luckyone here ..lol all my stuff works except the rear window stuff

Yeah, rub it in... I still don't have a fuel gauge that works... really have not tackled it yet, but it is next on the list after the Oil Stuff...
But my back window works..!!! just a little tempermental, I have to wiggle the gate sometime to get it to work...
