Has anybody heard of or used Bendtsen's adapters? http://www.transmissionadapters.com/

I've pretty much lost interest in my Thunderbird project (way to much rust) and have decided to use the 390 out of it in my Wag. I had first planned on a C6 and Chevy divorced NP205. Then I found this outfit has an adapter for 390 to TH400. I would realllly like to keep my BW 1339 trans case and it would be tons less work (read, hassle). The way I figuire it the biggest headache would be mounting the engine and fabing exhaust from mandrel bends.

Aside from the price being too high, you would have to get a Chevy TH400, gut it and put your output shaft in it.

Do you understand that the TH400 in your Jeep has an AMC bellhousing bolt pattern.
A Ford FE to Chevy Transmission adapter will not work.
Why? Because you have an AMC version of the TH400, but still...it is a an AMC transmission.
So, you what need is a Ford FE to AMC trans adapter.
Their website does not list such an adapter but they advertise they can make any adapter you need.
Oh..and yes...they are expensive!!

for the price of that adapter you should be able to get a good working C6 with a 205 attached... Hell, it'll probably be cheaper...
I spent a little over $800 on adapters mating my AMC V-8 to a TH350 to a Ford NP205...

Ditch the Quadtratrac

Use the FE390 with a C6 and divorced 205, IMO

Yeah, I know about switchin' to a Chevy transmission.
The 390 I've got is one I originally had in a '72 F100. It became a donor for the T-Bird thanks to my brother.
Considering what I have invested in the 390, the price of the adapter kit is nothin'. It would also save the work of fabricating mounts for the transfer case, altering drive shafts and IF I get real lucky, the drive shafts won't need length changes. I'm usually not that lucky though.

Ford mated 205's are driver drop. My D44 front axle is a pass offset. The Chevy divorced 205 is passenger drop.
