I just completed my 229/208 swap and I was wondering what kinda oil to put in the 208? It was empty when I recieved it. I've always owned toyotas...with gear driven transfer cases that used 90w.

didn't the 80-81 208's and 219's use 10W30 motor oil before switching to ATF?

Dunno guys? But I flushed the hockies out of it today and filled it up with ATF. Seems to work fine. Can even hear it run. BTW, don't know if anyone's done it before, but I used the linkage that was on my 229 to shift the 208. Took some minor modifications, but it works great. Anyone that interested can email me and I'll fill in on the details.
