The brakes are no longer dragging!!! :D it had na internal valving leak which make the brakes drag... now for the puzzling part...
The peddle still sinks a little.. but not near as much as it did.... the PS pump whines and I still cannot turn while stationary...its been this way for a while.. like 2 years.... so I am swapping in a nw PS Pump tomorrow to see it that is the cuplrit, but I doubt it since the pump has been replaced in the last 2 years already and I cannot remember ever being able to turn while stationary...
So my theory is the gearbox is shot... when I turn ( forcebly) the whine starts and the brake pedal is pulsating a bit and I am no gearbox guru so...
IS THE GEARBOX SUPPOSED TO MAINTAIN PRESSURE THAT IS RECEIVED FROM THE PUMP? how can I check it without replacing it?

there is a valve in the back of the power str pump behind the 1 inch nut on the high pressure side if it is clogged it will do as you say your is doing that's why they sell the little filters that go into the return line to the pump so debris wont plug the pressure regulator valve and do as your's is

compressed air if you look at it close you will see the little holes that get pluged if you want more pressure get one from a 1 ton if you want less get one from a car if you can find one from a caddt diesel that would be smooth they are different

They were clear.... I also put in a Burb pump today... for hydroboost... new... same thing is happening.... cannot turn when stationary... give it a little juice and it get easier.. but still takes two hands on the wheel.... no more whining from the pump though
now... its it the box?
just curious. if the wheels were off the ground would you be able to move the tires?

Todd, It sounds like your box is toast. I can turn my 39.5's with one finger on the pavement while stationary. I replaced my steering box a year ago, it had some bad leaks and it would do what you describe. I got a used one from the junkyard and now there are zero problems. Just my .02 for what it is worth.

The idiot parked so close to my J10 at work (ON PURPOSE) and another morron parked on the other side so close I could not get in it. I had to open the back window and reach in put in N and push it out from between the Geo and Ford Ranger. Yea we are at war over this. I sprayed their vehicles down yesterday morning when I go in from my run it was COLD!!! Wonder how they liked the sheet of ice covering their cars when they got in from their run. Can't wait till I hear about it, and round 3 :D

did you bleed it out (turn wheel lock to lock several times) Took me about 25 miles of driving through the twisty roads here to get my j10's system all cleared out.

yeah... I do it the easy way... install the box at full left lock...
top of the fluid.... start it to get fluid going and turn slowly to the right and then back again... turn it off
let it sit for 20 minutes for air bubbles to dissapate.... done... no air....
there is no whine from either box... I just cannot turn while idleing and stationary without using two hands and makes parallel parking a REAL TREAT....
saving up for the new box... this sux....

BTW... I am going to check hyd pressure first.... if I am low on pressure, I may try a modifed valve first to see if it cures what ails my steering.
