I saw this this morning while looking for one in Ca. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/cto/1339377018.html
What do you guy's think?
All I know so far is what is in the ad I E-mailed the guy so we will see what he says.
The problem is it's a little far away to go look at so I might have to just wing or let it go.

I think that this truck has been sold as I type here. $200 is a good deal for a truck running(even poorly).

It's been on there a few times and the price keeps getting lower and lower. I just saw it this morning figured I would give it a try if I fell better later (just diagnosed with pneumonia) I will try to call him and get the real story.

Just talked to the guy and he still has it available. He leaves in the morning to go across the country so if no one picks it up tonight he is going to donate it for free. Considering my situation i don't think I am going to be able to make it happen as much as i would like to. Somebody in the bay area should jump on this he might even give to you cheaper.
He says the the body is rust free with only a couple minor dings but is shines right up. The wood paneling is faded on the drivers side but good on the passenger side. The tranny shifts strong and the 4-wheel drive works great.
The interior front seats need work power doesn't work to them and they are torn. Carpet is supposed to be good just needs a cleaning and all of the power windows work great. This is all what he said in the phone to me about 5 minutes ago.
It sucks that i can not make it up there i would like to fix this up for my wife to have but oh well.

I know that's the color my wife wants to. I have only found a couple but they weren't in any condition or were way too much.

Man, 200 bucks for that?!?!?! If I needed it, I'd go across the country for it. Looks like it is in really good condition. I mean, if the hood and various trim is good those alone are worth that! My 91 GW cost me not too much more than that and though it unfortunately has too much frame rust to restore it as it turns out, it is providing me with a wealth of excellent parts for my 86 southern rust free GW.
It's unfortunate that you won't be able to go and get it. Surely to goodness someone will recognize the deal that is and pick it up. It looks salvageable based on the pics!
I hope you are feeling better soon, fireman.

He said he had the oil changed and wound up running around with 1 qt of oil in the motor for about a week due to a careless mechanic. anyhow. It has a rod knock.
My brother and I will go get it tomorrow if someone doesn't get it tonight. The guy is gonna leave it in a specified parking lot with the key and pink in pre arranged locations.
Cant go tonight need the flatbed and other tow rig. plus My bro is out with his wife and friends for her congrats on the new job party (IE he aint going nowhere tonight)

That's really sucks because he told me he would not do that because I could have got a driver to get me up there tomorrow. If I felt better that is.

well It sounded like he was gonna advertise the leave it for free in the parking lot thing on Craigslist and the 1rst one there gets it.
You spoke with him this morning so I bet by now he is a tad more desperate to unload this thing before he leaves for NY City. Dont take it personally man. its not like im guaranteed its still there should I go to all the trouble to borrow the flatbed and tow truck from my old man. (Who lives 25 mi in the wrong direction making the trek up to SF to get it a 140mi round trip.

I really do empathize with you man. I had a 71 wag slip thu my fingers by a 7min late phone call. It SUCKS when a really good deal slips thru your finger and you get cheated out of it due to a lame seller. ..................I was so mad at that guy. I was on the way out the door with money.

It sucks that I couldn't get it that is why I posted it on here so someone from the area would have a chance at it.
I hope that you get your hands on it and fix or make some money off of it.
At least he is not going to donate it any more.
I had the same thing happen to me. A fairly rust free '76 in good shape with a possible 401:eek: eventually went to the scrapper because the guy wouldn't call me back, and wound up donating it.
Actually, it was the Wag that got me into FSJs in the first place. It was right across the street- love at first sight. Someday, I'm hoping I'll stumble upon it in a scrap yard, and buy it up as it was my first "true love" (J/K)!.

Confused?
Did you get it or not?
What happened to it?
Who has it now?
Is anyone going to go get it?

It looks like someone came and got it last night. I cant raise the dude on the phone and his ad from craigslist is gone.
Id bet money it was my buddy out in portola valley who picked it up. he grabs up every rig around here and has incredible luck finding owners who are in a jam and need to get rid of it. Dollars to doughnuts next time I go out to his place to get some parts and shoot the fat that rig will be sitting outside his shop.
We will see.
The good news is my older brother is getting sucked into fsj's like crazy he is seriously on the hunt for one.

That sucks that you didn't get it either I was hoping some from here would be able to latch on to it so it would go to a good home. And not just some random person looking for a good deal on any old car they could find.
