my rear end on my 86 wagoneer is going out! I only posted like two months ago how my $1200 FSJ had ran for the past 6 months.

A friend/mechanic is going to open it up tommorow and see whats going on.

Where in the hell do I find used parts for this? I realize I am not giving much on specifics but I don't know yet.

TWO QUESTIONS

It is the rear end. Not tranny. What are some possible common FSJ problems?

It's a pretty much rust free, great engine, good interior, all electrics work. Would it be worth it in the long run to spend the cash to get it fixed?

Your best economic bet at this point is to start looking for wrecking-yard pieces. It would help us help if you adjusted your profile to show what sort of Jeep you have, and where you are.

Differential problems are not especially common on FSJs unless they're heavily modified.

Whether yours is worth saving is a matter of it's overall condition (which seems quite good from your description), and how much you or potential buyers like the **** thing.

Many of us on this silly forum consider an occasional broken differential the trivial cost of doing bidness.

"sigh"... i know...
South Dakota
1986 Jeep Wagoneer (out of montana)
Stock except for
Oversized Radiator
Auxillary Gas Tank

I found the whole rear end for $350 from a salvage yard i work with. I really don't want to sell it... Its one of my favorite vehicles for sure. I can always put a new alternator in the VW and park this for a few months
