Was looking on eBay and came across these fans and was wondering if anyone has any opinions .....

Thinking these might not be too bad on my Wagoneer.

(1)They are too small, don't move near enough air.

(2)They are made in China.

(3) I have had an 8" on my motorcycle for several months now, and it does work but it is noisier than I think it should be (brush or bearing noise). I can't tell you how long they will last as I don't know yet.

(4)See No.1

If you want an electric fan, go to the junk yard and get a Taurus/Continental/Mark VIII fan. The pull 4000cfm. I have one and they work great...for $20 at my local Pick-n-pull.

Unfortunately there are no decent junk yards around here that I have found. Closest Pick-n-Pull is most likely in Phoenix, about 130 miles one way from me, so I have been trying to hunt down alternatives.

But thanks for the input, I need all I can get. Looks like I will continue to search, both on-line and off.

Now that is more what I was looking for in the first place, but my search didn't turn up.

Thanks.

That's the one, and replacement motors are about $60 at your local parts store.

I have the BJs aluminum radiator and only seem to have 3" between my radiator and main pulley - but the dimensions on the ebay taurus fans say 22"x17"x5" deep. Do you guys have more room or is the shroud easily trimmed?

I need the 4500 cfms!

ebay seller says fan can not be cut down to 3" so I guess I would have to move the radiator forward into the valance. Not sure about that.

You could rig it to a three position switch. That should let you utilize the 2 speed feature. up for hi middle off and down would be low.

Thought about it, but I notorious for forgetting things ..... like to turn them on or turn them off ..... lol.

Though a switch to kill it for water crossings might be a good idea, but that would be easy to splice.

If you are forgetful and are worried about leaving the fan on you can wire the switch to a wire thats only hot when the ignition is on.
