spark moduld

on my 1981 j10 behind the battery on the finder well thare is a box called a spark moduld i noticed a black gunk leaking out of it i dont know what it is or how to fix it doies any one know what i should do.

The spark control module is typically located on the driver side fender inside the the engine well.
The battery is usually on the passenger side of the engine well. So with that said I am a bit confused with what it is your having a problem with. But if what you say is the black oozing stuff? I could not tell you. To replace the module if it is the stock one is NOT very expense. If It will give you piece of mind, I would just replace it. You can get these at checker or just about any parts house.

sorry i ges i am talking about somthing elise the box is behind the battery on the passenger side i am not sure what the box doies.
