we've had an 1889 GW for parts for awhile and decided to send it off to the cash 4 clunkers dealer. It runs and drives and over the phone we were told 4500 from the gov't and 4500 from chrysler towards a new jeep. we drove her the 50 miles to the dealer only to find out that we can only get 2400 total for it AND the cash for clunker program does not apply to people buying a vehicle with cash. the only way to get 9000 out of the GW would have been to get a grand caravan or neon looking thing and make payments for the next 6 years. NO THANKS

Finally getting rid of the blue one?
we've had an 1889 GW
How's she treatin' you? IIRC, you have a Stanley Steamer engine in there? Did you finally get that pnumatic tire mod done? Those old steelies were pretty noisy. Where did they mount the smokestack on that model year? Watch out for those horse-hair stuffed seats, they are very flamable.
J/K :D
Sounds like the Jeep gods want you to keep this one!

you should call back and see if they'll offer the same thing, only this time record the conversation. i would have raised hell until they honored what they said they'd do. it should have qualified, it fits into all requirements... you should do some research and try again.
depending on the condition of the gw, i'd probably just keep it.

Probably gives new meaning to the term "wood grain". The whole truck's probably made from it.
Sounds like they shafted you on the clunker deal.

Well, first things first....
There are no CREDIBLE car dealers GIVING 9000.00 for anything.
But in my book, there are no credible car dealers. Period.

Dealers are likely reluctant to go through with CARS deals now. This Congressman claims that most of them are being stiffed for the rebate money: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/08/16/auto-dealers-paid-just-percent-clunkers-claims-congressman-says/?test=latestnews

that's because the dumbGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley Moogleyes cannot read directions and file the claim paperwork accurately and completely...most of the rejected claims goto the fact that they are not writing on the front of the title in black marker...junker car...cars.gov

this particular wagoneer is a 1989 sorry about the typeo. if there was a jeep in a picture in the dictionary next to lcunker it would be this one. it is rusted so bad that the back seat fell threw the floor and there is only carpet holding the stuff in the cargo area. Most of the glass is gone and even the roof has cancer. the dealer said that condition did not matter as long as it ran and drove:confused:
