I know that I need a rebuild on the carb but what kit to get and gaskets to get and how to install, should I have a profesional do it or can I handle it?

Get a pro to do it! That way, when it leaks after they are done, you can complain and get your money back....and it will leak...

Just take the carb in to any decent shop or copy that tag with the number stamped on it. Use a retailer that has a 'machine shop' just in case you get in trouble - their man may be able to advise or help you out.

Anyway all the retailer will want to know is the info off of that tag. Several companies make rebuild kits for Motocraft carbs. (I think the next time, I'm goingto try a F*rd dealer.)

What you will need is carb cleaner, nitrile gloves recommended, a lasagna tin, and a lot of time. The instructions with the kit will be terrible. If you really want instructions get the Haynes oor Factory manual. Best thing to do is carefully keep everything organized as you disassemble and reassemble hunting out the replacement gasketsetc that match. You're goal is to remove dirt and varnish.

Do a search here and also see the tech archives on the main IFSJA page (not the forums).

Good luck.
