The rear transmission mounting holes I believe.

Ideally, you would use two of the upper 4 3/8" holes, and the two lower holes, which are apparently a different size.
I was not aware of the size difference, and I had to use the upper 4 holes, which I am not currently happy with. Anyone know the proper size bolt for the lower holes? The engine I pulled was already seperated from the tranny, so I was trying to outrun the rain this weekend and had to use the four upper tranny holes, and as I didn't have the right bolts to go in, I couldn't buy the right bolts to bolt it to the stand.
Good luck,
Daniel

I had to run out to the local hardware store to get the right hardware to bolt the engine stand on. I can't imagine trying to rotate the engine with it mounted on the upper 4 holes.

Yeah, you really can't, unless you pickup on the engine. What size were your bolts NomadJack for the lower holes?

I think the lower bolts were a 5/8in head (upper ones were 9/16), I can't for the life of me remember the thread guage though it was a pretty standard course guage about 3-1/2 to 4in in length. You can err on the side of a little too long as the holes are tapped all the way through the block.

Those bottom bolts are 7/16" coarse thread.

Thanks. I asked before, but I guess I asked two questions, and the other was more exciting I need to do better homework before I work on stuff.

I used some long 3/8 bolts in the bottom holes with nuts on the other end (only ones i could find at the time) worked just fine never came loose and bolted right back up to the tranny.

DOH!
Yeah I was about to thread the long 3/8" bolts I had around into and through the threads and put a bolt on the end, until I let my utterly non mechanical helper talk me out of it.
I went to the store beforehand, but all I could get was grade 2 or grade 5 galvanized. I need to invest in a grade 8 bolt assortment, among 50,000 other things.
Later,
Daniel
