Careful, I think this is all pushing ColeTrickle over the edge.

The 401 must be the antithesis of evil to the big block lovers, and probably for a reason judging by the capability of the Great White. Check the link in my sig for 1 Bad AMC 401. It's a myth buster. tongue.gif

Actually the 401 is a real good idea and often is overlooked. I strongly suggest taking a look at what it really can do for you. Took me awhile to come around on this.........

But it does make me wonder why you get so frustrated at people for the choice of engines they decide to use....who cares?

AND, if this is incorrect, why must you continue on this subject to get your point across?

Sure, you've pointed out some very invaluable info. about the mythical 401. But not all Jeepers are AMC puriest as you see them need be.
Some of the guys here don't have tons of $$$ laying around to build up a machine that you say it can be.
For most of us it's just a hobby.

As for me over the edge...you haven't wheeled with me YET!
And you are more than cordially invited to show up. ;) :D

4-01 Is 8 cubic inches less that the engine that the beach boys loved.

40+1 is double the cutoff of the age of women I will date.

I don't care what you put in your Jeep, I might put something other then AMC in one of mine someday. I'm just here to stand up for the quality and potential of the 401 and to state that just because you might be able to pick up big block laying around for free... don't think that it's neccessarily going to be much of an improvement over a 401 (depending on year, make and stock specs).
I point that out because for a long time now I have been reading from guys that say the big block is an advantage, especially when you can pick one up cheap, and do nothing to it but run it. Sorry to burst your bubble, and no that doesn't mean the 401 is the greatest... just a quality motor with potential that darn near matches some of the big boys right out of the box.

And what else........? I bet it would be a blast to 4X with you in your truck, or Pete in his 'cause I know he's building that Caddy right from what I've read and it's going to rock plain and simple.
Cheers :D
