Hi everyone, I might as well start right away. As I was driving my 76 J-10 back from the garage, I just had a new Webber 2 bbl installed on my 258/6, when I pulled into my street, it acted like it was starving for gas, wanting to stall, chugging. This is why I replaced the mongrel 2 bbl someone had put on! Before replacing it, I pulled the line at the carb, cranked it, and fuel pumped out freely. The motor is a complete rebuild, with fuel pump. Any suggestions would be MUCH appreciated! Lately it sits at the garage more than I drive it. Thanks

Welcome thejum57,

I don't know how long you've surfed this site but I think you will find it is invaluable in maintaining our Jeeps. The are a lot of great people here and chances are at least one of them has run into any problem you could have. I just purchased a '74 J10 with the 258/3spd and will hopefully have it at my house tomorrow to begin my resurection.

Welcome,

Patrick

I am no carb genious, but have you checked the cheap stuff? Fuel filter, pcv valve vacuum lines? Sometimes it is the little things that excape us and can be the cause of the problems.
Try spraying a little carb cleaner around your intake gasket and the base of the carb. If it is sucking wind then it will cause the motor to bog indicating a leak.
I hope that is some help.
good luck,
