there are adapter kits a plenty on ebay for the TH400/4L80E, you might want to contact some of those vendors and see if they have anything. they are pricey though, anywhere from 500 used to 1500 new. check out www.4btswaps.com that's a popular setup, they will know right off the bat.

Since you will likely need an adapter plate on the front of your NV4500 to match the Cummins bell you will likely also need to use the longer Dodge input and retainer (gas and Diesel are different OD's, for the 4bt the gas input would be fine). Now, this will only swap into the later GM NV4500 trannies so if you have the early model with the lower first gear it's not going to happen. (BTW, I just snagged a real nice used Dodge gas input and retainer off ebay for $50. For new it's close to $300.) ;)

I don't believe it is just the 93/94 Chevy NV4500's that won't work. I believe they changed the bellhousing pattern in 98 to match the Dodge pattern.

If you have a 98 and up NV4500 you can use a Dodge to Cummins bell, input shaft and bearing retainer with the SAE adapter to bolt to your existing tranny. If yours is the earlier style case or the lower gear version, the bell will not bolt up. I am not sure if you could redrill the bell to match to the earlier case or not, but if you have the early lower gear NV4500, it may not matter.

So, which NV4500 do you have?

Correct on just using the Dodge bell w/o adapter plate but he would still need the longer input and retainer.
'95 up for the same bell bolt pattern on GM NV4500 trannies, according to Tellico... I checked Novak also: http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/nv4500.htm

I understand there is something called a p30 kit? that will allow a chevy manual to bolt up? I have a dodge late style nv4500 behind it now

Then you probably just need to swap on a Cummins bell if you retained your dodge input and retainer doing that GM adaptation.

I don't how specific that is. I think there are two diesel inputs/retainers possibly one is HD.

is it a diesel nv4500 or a gas dodge nv4500? 29 spline output or 23 spline out put? all diesels from 94-03 used same bearing retainer on dodge nv4500's if its a dodge diesel nv4500 then you are in great shape get he bell and the 94-02 engine adapter plate (auto or stick are the same) and i can mail you out that flywheel and you'll be good to go

Like dusty said, the bearing retainer is the same on all, only the input shaft is diffrent (and the output too), according to weather it was a gas or diesel.

BTW, 96 is when chevy switched to the same bolt pattern and input retainer OD as the dodge. 95 and down have the diffrent bolt pattern and index dia. I have a 95 chevy 4500 settin here, as well as a 93 chevy one.

I received your package, thanks

now to just find a good 4bt
Bill

yep pretty sure i saw that flywheel in the shed the other day think i stubbed my toe on it pretty good. I don't know on pilot bearing.

But otherwise the input length should be the saem gas to diesel. you got the easily adapted version there and the dodge input means you'll be need the dodge bell and adapter making for a fairly straight forward adaptation identicle to the Chief you now possess

actually if you have the gas version it will take the diesel input nad bearing retainer. I would make that little investment so as to make clutches easier to configure, ive ripped the hub out of a gas version clutch because the dampener springs just arent made to handle the harmonics and torque of a diesel engine.
