Will be running 35 inch tires with the 3.73 axle ratio in the J20. Is it worth it to install a 700R4 in place of the three speed tranny on something that wont be a daily driver? Probably wouldn't put over 6000 miles a year on the Jeep when finished building. Just going to use it for running a trap line in the fall, which would consist of 125-150 miles a day for a month straight, and some mild off roading. Would it be worth the swap for the fuel saveings? I can picked up a 700R4 with transfer case for next to nothing from a friend.

I would not bother considering your driving conditions.

The adapter is around $500, 3.73 gears is too tall for an overdrive and 35" tires. You would need to run at least 4.56's. Fuel savings would never make up for the expense of the swap with the amount you are going to drive it.

I forgot to mention about the motor being rebuilt. It will have a minimum of 325-350 Hp. Heck, my 07 Silverado has 325 Hp. But it has a 4 speed. I will try and get pics up of the progress by the weekend. Thanks for your imput guys!

If it's not your DD and you not concerned with MPGs then dont swap it the TF727 is stronger if it will hold up to a 440 then it will hold up to your AMC no problem
