My wag has no power,I put my foot to the floor and wate.
I know the timeing is off,and carb prob needs to be adjusted.... Hayns sez 12 degrees BTDC,but the timing tab on crank only shows "TDC to 10 degrees ATDC"
When i set timing to TDC my engine dies.
Should i set timing to TDC, and mess with carb so it will run??
What should I do??..start with carb??...or start with timing??....
IM LOST help!!

typically, always setup the carb last. it is very easy to mask other problems by fooling around with the fuel mixture. set the timing to 12 deg btdc. thats factory spec. (i am assuming an amc 360 v8. if true, somethings weird with the timing marks. a little research may be in order.) a little retarded is ok, but you will have less power. make sure the vacuum advance on the distributor is working by taking off the cap and applying suction to the port on the distributor. it should not leak. watch the timing mark while revving the engine (with the vacuum advance hose off and plugged.) the mark should move towards advanced as the rpm goes up.
let us know how it goes (or not).
