go higher... (aye Ted?)
I had to go. Up high. Me and the dogs. Again. Columbus Basin is about 11,000 feet. The flowers are popping their colors big time. Some are chest high! Pictures are loading through our "high speed" so it will be a while before they are all up.

When in doubt
...empty the magazine?:D
Lovely countryside, and it looked like some genuine history sitting around out there. Good stuff!

Nice picts. Purty flowers. What used to be up there? Guessing a mine of some sort. Wish we had more mountains in Florida.

Aye cap'n!
Y'know, I don't think I've ever had a bad day above timberline -- maybe a few I thought I might not survive, but they were good days.
By the way, for that great tagline, "When in doubt, go higher" credit goes to Mark Fox, photographer for Mountain Gazette magazine.

Just way cool. I don't think we're aloud to do that here in Kalifornia. The exhaust from our FSJs would kill the flowers.

Mostly silver mining but copper, gold and some other stuff too. The shanty looking structure is still an active private silver mine. The big shaft and cast iron artifacts are the Columbus Mine. Seems there are several mines in CO by that name. This is in La Plata county.
I looked it up and it is 11,004 feet Janie. :)
